I heard the hitch of a gun and heard the boom just before it was all silent. Suddenly the noise came rushing back as the loudest explosion I've ever heard came crashing through the senses, but I didn't feel any heat. Cracking one eye open I saw a large rippling sphere where the machine had been. The sphere looked like one of those dark holes I learned about in school. Then I felt myself moving as a large suction force started pulling bits of old broken metal into the sphere where it disappeared. I tried feebly to grab the bottom of the stairs, but I couldn't move my arms out of the crumpled heap I was in. I didn't know else to do but scream as I was yanked through the air towards the sphere and I blacked out.
