Really gorgeous. Not sure what it is but it reminds me of wild onions in bloom.  If you click on the picture in the link it enlarges it much better. Great photo, Loren.

Thank you Lea!  It's a shallot.   We have wild onions and garlic here in the Sonoran Desert but they only bloom in wet years.

That is why it looked so familiar!  I haven't seen any since I was a kid but I looked for them and was pretty sure it was!

when ever we get a shallot or onion that sprouts in the refrigerator I put it in a pot or the ground and we use the leaves for cooking.  So we have green onions for the last fall, winter and spring.
