this was pretty much inspired by a beautiful animated film i saw here at DA...i'd love to link it here but i simply can't remember by whom it was... which is really shameful since i really like the art of this deviant...

No one ever saw her, no mortal man that is. She had lived her life unseen and unheard as the guardian of a small forested lake deep in the American mid-west. The air there was fresh and the water was crystal clear. She had her friends.
The nymphs of the forest and the dwarves of the nearby mountains.
Humans would, from time to time, come by and visit her lake.Β
Keeping the lake and the forest clean was a task that these...uninvited guests made all the harder every time they came by.
