I like the newer one better, but this one is still amazing. It's especially nice to see both characters closer in this one, see their faces as they're about to fight. You get a better sense of a battle in progress rather than a faceoff before the battle. I also think this may be slightly better drawn than the other one, even if I prefer the other scene slightly better.

My bro has his bets placed on the dragon. Great work on the art. The colors are done quite nicely.

Sadly im going to say the dude with the sword...

Why? Simple, That sword is about to cut that dragon's throat open from the inside.

The (it appears to be a) serpent/wyrm...
This guy doesn't stand a chance in the battle - bigger is better.

You've done a great job - except the samurai appears to stand too still. But else - composition, colors, those are good.

This is a very cool picture. Most people think "medieval" and "knight" and think "European" (OK, yeah, I'm one of those people ), so it's great to see a samurai. Besides which, samurai are pretty darned epic. And this is a very well-executed (no pun intended) piece. The determined yet stoic expression on the samurai's face, the sense of the sheer size of the dragon. Terrific!

Who do I think will win? I say the samurai - he is in the element for which he has trained his entire life. In fact, this is the moment where he finds meaning for his life. Whether he lives or dies, he still wins.

When comes to dragons I like braking the " rules". ...just go with what seems cool. Thanks for the comments!

Really cool dragon but the pose for the samurai is a bit odd. It's a solid pose but its not saying much about the story here besides being a pose.

He's not preparing a block or a chop and its too rigid to be a shot of him suddenly turning around to face the dragon.

Keep it up!

Great points! Ya caught me! I had two sketches of a dragon and samurai....and I put them together....so the oddness stems from this being a practice piece. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

My money is on the dragon. He just needs to breathe fire on the samurai.

Ah...if the dragon could breathe fire the Samurai would be in a spot of trouble.....

The samurai always wins, because if he dies, he died an honorable death. If he kills the dragon, he gains glory.
