Description Homemade poke salad, perfect for those warm days as spring comes around the corner!

My sister and I made this for dinner some time ago. While I really don't like descaling/deskinning the fish (and even after using soap, it feels like the fingers stay fishy all evening!), I do like that you have a lot more control over how salty the sauce is and the ratio of fish to bottom filler can be customized to your liking!

Wow, this looks so nice, and it seems so yummy! I know the pain of fish, ugh, the smell never disappears, the same thing with shellfish. Why does the smell of everything from the sea stay for so long?! XD

Thanks! And definitely- like if I open a can of sardines, even if I don't think the oil has touched anything and I put the can away in a sealed bag, the smell just lingers in the room even though the fan and window are open!! I had eel fried rice (one of the nastiest things I have ever eaten, despite it being extremely popular based on reviews), and I could still taste it in my mouth the next morning despite flossing and brushing twice. Whew!

Fried eel sounds pretty horrible to be honest, haha. But it must have been such a pain not being able to get rid of the taste. XD

Eel fried rice is super popular at that restaurant, and I think 80%+ of the tables in there had ordered it... but wow, it truly remains one of the worst things I have ever eaten. I'm fine with eel sushi and canned eel, but somehow their recipe, despite all the acclaim, just didn't match up! XD I guess the same goes for a lot of foods though- we really like checking on food review sites to see what restaurants to go to, but we often find something else there that we prefer instead. What would you say was most memorable event where people tell you it is either super amazing or super bad, but it really turned out to be the opposite in your opinion?

Oh wow, that must have been so awful, especially when everyone else seemed to enjoy it so much, haha. I'm glad you managed to avoid it from that on then, haha.
Well, this is a  similar story, but when I was a kid I used to love blood sausages, and then when we visited a restaurant when I was much older I saw that they had a bouffet with this very dish. I loaded up tons of it, and then realized I absolutely hated the taste, it was the same as when I was a kid, but for some reason it made my stomach twist itself this time around. For some reason my taste for blood sausage had disappeared completely, and I've never eaten it since then. XD

Oh man, loading up on a whole pile of blood sausages and then realizing you couldn't stand the taste, yikes! What did you end up doing with all those sausages? When you say you hated the taste, did it still taste the same as childhood but you just didn't like it, or did it just taste completely different? It's weird how our tastebuds change as we get older huh?

I had to secretly throw them away, since there was always at least one teacher keeping guard so you didn't toss too much food. XD

It tasted completely different, it was so weird.

Haha I can imagine that! It sounds like something I would do! When we were little, my sister taught me how cutting up something into small pieces and spreading it across the plate makes it look like you ate much more of it than you did, and seeing how "little" the food looked did make me feel better about not wasting so much, even though technically it was still the same amount haha! I've since learned to be better about wasting less food, but that was something I've done a few times as a kid. Have you had any blood sausages again recently to see if the taste "reverted" back to how it used to taste?

Poke! Never ever have ye had such a meal! What a terrible fate this meal must have cost you. You peel the fish and the fingers smell fishy. Your fingers smell fishy and it attracts bears. One day, a massive bear shall waltz into your life (or push a carriage) and grow far too humongous for a home to adequately house. Alas, even a poor sausage cannot contend with such an enormous beast. His bones far too brittle and his butt far too big to help reign in the youngster. He'll reminisce about his younger days where wrangling a bear would have been no chore at all, but those are just memories and memories alone will not stop this goliath.

Never have I ever, and never have ye ever seen it! And ye have never seen this meal and how it attracts a bear so large that you cannot fathom how large this bear is. You see, this is a large bear, who is even more large than the largest sausage in the world. No sausage can withstand the might of this large bear, for this bear is soft, so soft, and also the largest bear in the world, who is larger than any porch, larger than any lawn that the old sausage has marked as his territory. I have a bear, and it is a soft bear, a bear so soft and so large and ye have never seen this large and soft bear before!

Thanks! It was pretty good! I like that it's not as salty as what you'd get at restaurants, and you can control your own ratio of fish to filler! But since it's so much trouble to make for something that is so "simple," it's not a regular thing we make.
