"Nothing is certain, and not even that" - Multatuli. He was a Dutch writer from the 19th century who ranted against colonial exploitation. Very famous in NL. But I just found that Ancient Greek philosopher Arcelicaus of Pitane (316-214BC), founder of Academic skepticism, had already said the same thing. I had never heard of him before to be honest. And I'm pretty sure that some Assyrian or Babylonian smartass would have already said it long before him. In a process of human civilization that goes back at least 10.000 years I guess it's difficult to come up with anything fundamentally new
