If he’s holding the staff behind him like that, his hand holding the staff’s direction would be switched. Like this:

Or you could just put the staff in front of him. I mean. Technically he COULD have his hand like that but it would be really awkward and not natural

and don’t forget to use you own hands and image how they would look in that pose! Your reference images and take picture of yourself if needed. Good luck!
