Background:
On a fateful day on Geonosis, one which sparked the raging inferno that became one of the galaxy’s most bloody conflicts, a young Anakin Skywalker, both brash and overconfident, engaged the fallen Jedi Master turned Sith Lord known as Count Dooku, leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The resulting duel cost the padawan part of his humanity, losing a wrist and hand within a swing of the Count’s lightsaber. Even a confrontation with Master Yoda did not deter the Dark Lord of the Sith, who managed to escape and prolong the conflict for nearly two years.

When Dooku’s aides retrieved the hand and lightsaber at his insistence, they were unaware of what plan he had in store for the human remains. While Sidious mentioned nothing of recruiting the Force-sensitive to their fold to the Count (due to the Rule of Two), he surmised that one day they would become a necessity to their cause. Despite Sidious’ power, Dooku had doubts; they were vastly outnumbered by the Jedi Order and now had to contend with their newfound army of cloned soldiers. And even with the failures of his own “apprentices” in the form of both Komari Vosa and Ventress, he still felt the need for Force-users. They didn’t necessarily need to be the “originals.” As Sidious had revealed with Joruus C’Baoth, even the Force-sensitive could be cloned. And Dooku’s first clone Jedi would begin with the severed tissue of one of their most promising and talented of apprentices.

Dooku’s death would have sealed the fate of this growing clone, hidden within isolated chambers on Mustafar, if not for Wilhuff Tarkin’s recovery of Dooku’s data archive, and the obsessive behavior of a certain former Sith Lord, eager for revenge against the Jedi Order. Peering upon the Spaarti Clone Cylinder that contained the growing Anaakin Skywalker, Maul knew he had a valuable piece in which to exact his revenge. It would take time, both to prevent the rapid onset of madness that was all too prone in Spaarti-grown vats and to properly train him in the ways of the Force and the Sith. Of course, if this didn’t prove fruitful, Maul had another weapon at his disposal, in the visage of his old enemy…

Honestly he didn't look enough like Anakin to me. He could be one of the Solo children or the brother of Executor Sedriss, or just a member of the Dark Side Elite in general. I do love how much it replicates the style of Dark Empire. Still I feel his face should look closer to Hayden Christensen's face, specifically the cheekbones. If that's too difficult a mask works just as well. The outfit design is alright, it doesn't scream Anakin to me or Vader for that matter. Maybe go for a more metallic armor look. Beyond that I think it's a fine design, it just doesn't stand out to me as much as it should. Considering he's essentially the Dark Chosen one.

Glad to see some people haven't abandoned Timothy Zahn's version of the expanded universe. Great concept, and a nod to various Starkiller incarnations that have popped up throughout the various SW canons

It's hard from me to deviate from what I had grown up with, all of the novels, video games, tabletop RPG books, comics, etc. My limited foray into the new canon left me unimpressed, so it was only natural for me to fall back to what I know best.

Some explanation behind my choice for the "Starkiller" name for Anakin's clone: Galen Marek (as you know him from The Force Unleashed and its sequel) does not become Starkiller in this setting; while his father is killed during the Clone Wars during the Corellian Sector campaign, Galen himself grows up in the Jedi Temple and ultimately becomes a Jedi Knight. As for Starkiller Base, that too doesn't exist in Father and Son of the Suns, as my setting is derived from the EU/Legends continuity, not the new canon.

As a couple of folks have speculated, I like using some of the throwback ideas and names to flesh out this setting, as homage to their origins. Starkiller was originally the family name of Anakin (then Annikin) and his children, Luke and Leia, in the drafts of The Star Wars. The clones of Anakin and Obi-Wan idea was originally inspired by Timothy Zahn's pitch that one of the antagonists in his trilogy would've been an evil clone of Obi-Wan Kenobi. This was shot down by Lucasfilm, thus he created the character of Joruus C'baoth instead.

While not particularly original names, I felt that they would represent the characters and the setting well, plus give a couple of nods to IRL Star Wars development lore.

Good art I guess, but don't you think you could have used a name that wasn't already taken by both a real character and an object?

"Starkiller, [a] clone of Anakin Skywalker"
I tip my hat for that reference.

I don't: said reference has been previously used for not one but two different things in the actual franchise.

2 characters, technically 3 if you count Kane Starkiller. In an early draft of A New Hope, the character that would be Luke is named Annikin Starkiller. That is what he's referencing in tangent with Starkiller from The Force Unleashed 2, an actual clone.

Wasn't Starkiller the character from the Force Unleashed? He was Darth Vader's secret apprentice if I'm not mistaken.

I would like to say, the ship artwork that appears on shoguneagle's profile is generally very well done even though I haven't reviewed them too often. I just find it easier to critique artwork centering around characters.
