In this battle ground, where are the armies, the blood, the casualties? In this battle ground those who fight are in peace. The bright light opens a window in the veil of clouds and kisses the sands.
In the background, a more primordial battle follows its natural course, the waters and the earth measure forces and remain apparently untouched. Pure illusion of immutability! In the course of time, each second of battle will leave behind a tiny trace… a tiny grain of sand, and then other and other and other, billions and billions of tiny grains of sand. No human eyes can testify this process of destruction and creation… and yet the rock is changing constantly, doesn’t matter how big or how stiff, it will keep changing until there's nothing more than grains of sand, each time tinier and tinier...
The fields of sand are just the past of the big rocks they once were. The sea is the immense and tireless sculptor. He sculpts destroying, recreating… and covers his precious works with his huge body. He allows us to see just a little piece of his work, we have the privilege to walk upon it, to touch it and behold it. Sands are but memories of a rock, memories of vast oceans that changed from place. Behold the sea! Behold the desert! We are nothing but “dust in the wind”, memories of something we were before.
When you go from Arizona desert to Oregon coast, you are really travelling in time, contemplating different stages of this natural battle
The way you captured this battle of the sea, the bright light and its reflections on the wet sand illustrates this process of eternal transformation that we contemplate without consciousness of its course. We only see the magnificent stormy sea, the mysterious cloudy sky and the beauty of light, the same way we look at a mirror without the consciousness of all the changes that take place constantly in our bodies and in our mind.
This is a picture to contemplate more than once. This picture is a mirror of our fragility, our strength and fugacity. For a second, you stopped the time in this simultaneous mirror of change and immutability. But the best of all is that we are alive to contemplate it, passionately and peacefully.

the sea, the wind we can only feel, the sun light that covers us... and when any of those are chosen by mother nature, can surround and bathe us with harmony, or destroy us with malice... our undying mother nature surrounds us with visions, mystery, wonderment that is overlooked on a daily basis by many... i truly thank you for observing the captured moment that abated a severe storm for a brief moment, and allowed me to freeze it's image in time... your wonderful comments happily inspire me to keep looking for these flash moments and to capture and share with others such as yourself... i appreciate you taking your in-depth time to notice my work... humbled...
be well...!
