I love the textures in this photograph. I like the way you've captured the hard life that the wall has been through. Another thing I really like about this photo is the fact that you have the image centered but the door and the little window has kept to the "rule of thirds" (I've always hated that saying). Very well composed.
Black and white was definitely the better choice. I don't think this picture would have been half as good in colour. The only thing I could possibly suggest, although it might be my monitor, is possibly just add a little more contrast? But yeah, all in all I really like this photo. Very well shot.

And first of all thanks for this critique. A comment I could do is about your mention of the "rule of thirds", because I've never really payed any attention to it. Shoot first, discuss after, as they say...
