Description While I was mourning the loss of my ds lite for the summer (not lost, just left behind!), I started searching out legal ways of drawing on my 3DS, since any attempt to replicate my previous exploits from my old ds-es on my new 3DS would result in a permanent BRICKing, i.e. it wouldn't work anymore.

Fortunately some good friends from the DS doodles group pointed me out to this portable photoshop program called Inchworm animation (IF YOU HAVE A DSi OR 3DS, AND YOU LIKE DRAWING/ANIMATING, YOU NEED THIS PROGRAM. CHECK OUT THE E-SHOP FOR MORE DETAILS). And as I do whenever I test out a new program, I go back to something familiar, in this case, Sonic.

Whaddya think? I'm not sure myself, seeing as it was a test, and I didn't plan anything out (never a good sign), but I dunno... I might do something with this in the future!

I don't really like Sonic so much but I'll add this to my favorites to save the program's name and because it's a wodnerful animation.I'd only like it to be in black instead of blue but that's just my opinion

I think that this and other animations done using inchworm and flipnote are amazing and show how far handhelds have come. The other day one of my parents friends bitched at me saying Ive played with a gameboy for my entire life.

I then had to school him and tell him this isnt a gameboy this is a nintendo 3ds, and does more than just play games..I can draw and even animate on it.

Sadly people open their mouths before they have any idea of what they are talking about. Seeing animations like this inspire me to do something with Inchworm myself just to prove luddites wrong.

Again great animation and I think if you wanted to do something in the future adding the eyes and some color would really make it pop as it already has the motion down in my opinion !

Thanks for the love, Even more, thanks for the thoughts!

Yeah, ironically enough, convincing my parents that I could draw on my DS was how I was allowed to purchase the first gen DS. I thought Pictochat was brilliant, but my mind was blown when someone brought a DS light to a drawing session. I was a little incensed that it wasn't a cartridge game that I could purchase legally, so I got a rom card.

Thankfully, Colors is about to become an app for the 3DS store! WOO!!! Hopefully Nintendo and other independent developers will take the concept of being more than just console and being an outlet for creativity even further.

Let's hope, right?

Haven't heard of colors but inchworm animation is a powerful little program. Ill have to look into Colors and yeah we can hope. I mean the wii made a step in that direction with U draw which is a tablet that allows you to paint on your tv but I already have a wacom tablet so i don't really need another XD.

Good stuff! The flow of this works well. Good anticipatory motion before he takes off at the end.
