This is really nice, I very much enjoy your line work! The way you kept the whole figure rather simple and instead shaded around her is quite effective, and really allows you to achieve a nice focus on the shoulders and the face, where you put this wonderful contrast. You did quite a good job on the facial expression, too, this really conveys emotion.
Did you actually use toned paper for this, or is the greyish background from photographing the piece? I know I get a similar effect when I take photos of my sketches, but then again my cam is awful and my photos are usually just for the purpose of quickly showing someone

In any case, very nice work
Daniel

Wow, thank you for such a lovely and detailed comment!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Yes it white paper, its only greyish from photographing it, I tried to correct it in photoshop but it didn't work very well.
(My camera is awful too )

You are very welcome I really enjoyed your work It makes me want to draw Which I will probably do later today, haha.

And aww, it would be nice to see this in its original state. It even looks great like it is here, but yeah, it can be a bitch with these cameras. The same happens to me all the time But well, if you have no scanner, you have to help yourself somehow, right?

well i guess they look first and tell you what size it will make for a print. with my 12mega pix some will go up to 30X40inches for a print. i would maybe prefer an original, but who knows if i have that type of cash...perhaps you will trade something?

I dont normally do trades Mostly because this is my main income, and I really need money when I'm in Shanghai this fall. ^_^ so it depends on what

Most of my earlier works you can get a print, but then I had a problem with art thieving and I stopped, but now I am starting to make prints again.
If you find something you like but don't see a print option just tell me and I'll fix it. ^_^

Soirsce In reply to TomKilbane [2008-09-06 15:23:33 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I was thinking maybe just making the largest image size smaller, because I also hate the large deviant copyright thing, it always seems to cover a nice part of the painting
