Description
This deviation, unlike the previous two, was done this year a while ago. Also unlike the previous two which were meant to be life restorations, I did this as a way to test out how I would illustrate anatomy for these creatures in the future.
First, I drew the underlying skull of the animal by first using a reference image of a replica mount. Then, after that was done I drew the second layer, which was muscle anatomy. By looking at the many reference images of tyrannosaurus musculature that’s out there I used those as a base to assist me with my approach with this and there you go.
And with that being said, it must be stated that there are a few issues with this drawing as a whole and this was mainly done as an experiment for 3D perspective of sorts. Firstly, the lips drawn here aren’t as even as I intended for them to be and the lower one makes the lower jaw actually look small which is not ideal in this case. And second, the lighting is awful. I tried to use the natural lighting from the sun outside by placing it on my table but that obviously wasn’t enough. Next time I expect to use a lamp for more optimal lighting when I do more of these.
