It would be nice to try but there is not much of a pineapple I can find in Turkey, at least for a cheap price. So pineapple is a royal fruit for me. But maybe I can try one day... when I'm rich.

Basically pineapples were considered not only a delicacy, but also a curiosity. they did in fact dress up exotic fruit and put them on display. to nobles of the era, pineapples were sort of like cavier to us. expensive, exotic, and unusual, so they had a craze about it. People would even let the fruits go rotten, sitting on display in their houses. it was a sort of "haha, i am so rich, look at this weird, cool thing, i can afford?" and other noblemen would be known to visit and look at the pineapple. oranges were treated in the same way. basically, imagine eating something extremely foreign, rare, and sought after and posting it to Instagram. it was weird... idk, the nobles of the period obsessed over it, like we obsess over cat videos and vines today.
