Description

So, I worked my butt off yesterday, so I could plunk the dress on and see how it fits. Lucky I did, too - the muslin must have stretched like the taffeta wouldn't, so it was a little too small - lucky, it's easily fixed!

No ironing was done at this point, which is why it looks a bit like a garbage bag in the back - I didn't want to iron this taffeta until I made sure it fit, because once you press a crease into this fabric, you ain't never getting it out! Plus, none of the seams have been clipped or graded, which is why the sleeves look like poop especially.

Sleeves are pinned in, and not hemmed. Skirt has a 2" hem at the back that wasn't put up, although the front is how it is (mmm... much hand sewing).

I had to safety pin up the swag in the front, to be sure it worked - and indeed, it did! I owe ~MissMaggie1860 something for that, I just haven't thought of what, yet.

Also, this is wihtout all of the various paddings (boob padding, and my butt isn't installed yet). And without the underskirt. And without the petticoat.... so... yeah. I have a lot left to do, but not as overwhelming as I thought it would be. Oh, and I need to add my facing, and all the trim

The coolest thing about this? I'm totally using the pattern to make the most badass jacket ever - seriously, if you do this back, with a straight front like a coat, you have the most ass-whopping jacket ever. Like, hardcore kick-ass jacket. I wants me one!

And the hats? I don't know. Chris plunked his on my head first, and then I stole my mothers awesome huge hat that I made her buy It will have one of the little top hats, with my hair done up, hopefully, in the end.

Meh. Much to do still, but I'm happy it's together (even if the sleeves are just pinned in place XP)
