Despite popular beleif, bases arent just for no-talents.
It takes just as much talent, to create an origional character and apply it to a base, as actually drawing it.
I for one support base art =]

Not entirely true.
Some people use bases, to help them in the process of creating origional characters.
It gives them the freedom to, if they do not like the progress, start all over again without having to redraw a body.
Also, my little brother used bases to learn to draw several differet anime styles.
Honestly, yeah. It wasnt my place to comment on what you said, but I did feel the need to let you know that not every base-user has no talent.
Open collabs, where someone edits half of a base is a great way to meet new Deviants.
Its all about love of art, in every form.
It takes just as much talent to know how you want to edit a base, as it does to actually draw.

Well its ok if you want to open collab its the first time of heard of it, but you don't need a base to help you with anything it just enables you from getting any better, having to start over and over again to redraw the body is a good thing.

I agree completely, that having to start over and over again with the body is a good thing. That is how I got better, and how im sure plenty of people get better, or even taught themselves to draw.
My point is, if you are creating an origional character, bases are wonderful to sketch on, and see what looks best for your idea.
I for one can draw everything from realism to chibi. But I still find that bases help me when im stuck making an origional character.

For one don't go off saying that you have talent for art when it just isn't true, Your not good because you have some innate ability at drawing but because you strived and persevered to get were you're today.
Art is a skill, but bases inhibit people from achieving there potential by slowing down their learning process thats why I hate them. Ive seen people who have nothing but bases in their gallery its sofa king retarded.
Yeah sure not everyone who uses them is terrible, but you don't see the masters here on DA using them do you? If your having trouble drawing your OC don't rely on bases for help with your inabilities, but work towards bettering them.

BUT. Every artist is a master. Of their own style.
Any form of art is beautiful, and just because one person dosent find it appealing does not mean it is lesser than someone elses piece.
Yes, if people do nothing but bases, it will hinder them, but if they wish to use them, it is their right, ad I still find that art.
Yeah, id rather see a stick figure when someone is making an OC than a base, but however they wish to develop their character, is part of their process.
