Description

    Sarafina beni’Kamilah al’Phoenir

Human (Symballan) female Lvl 4 Mystic of Isis

Sarafina beni-Isis was one of the great leaders of the Church and a famous member of the Silver Gryphon.  She had been assigned the task of rebuilding the Shrine of the Gryphon in Gryphomyr in the years following the Night of Demons.  When Eleanor, Amethyst and Jasmine Moonshadow gave their lives to destroy the Liche Lord Kaleal S’rryth, Sarafina was one of two High priestesses to take up the Avatar of Isis and lead the church during the Three Wars.

Meanwhile, in a small village on the Al-Setti River, two sisters were surviving the first assaults of the Atheaen Army.  Their parents and family killed, they escaped across the Pouarr border and eventually sought refuge on the mountain of Syvasmyr.  The older sister returned to the empire to join the army in the fight against the invading Atheaens.  The younger, an acolyte of the Church of Isis and already a talented Mystic, lived at the Temple of Isis, eventually taking up classes at Kar’Dhaer after the war.  Kamilah Zahara beni’Q’Tar al’Durran would graduate with letters in medicine and forensics, becoming the first scientific medical examiner and investigator for the newly formed Nation State of Syvasgaard.  Her older sister would become a hero in that war, and later rise to command the armies of the new Kingdom of Xanth.

Kami’s constant involvement in adventure after adventure, her unwavering dedication to seeing wrongs righted and injustice corrected, made her rise in power steady and quick.  As one of the founding members of the Night Raptors, she was also the last to leave its ranks.  Eventually, she retired, barely in her mid-twenties, to become the headmistress of the magical school at the Temple of Isis in New Phoenix.  As the years passed and the threat of future adventures thankfully faded, she settled down and decided to continue her family line.  In the tradition of the priestesses of the Church of Isis, the identity of the man she chose to mate with was irrelevant.  She’d had lovers in the past, and her relationships never ended well, so she picked the smartest, strongest, most honorable of the church guard to take to her bed,… and proceeded to wipe his memory of the event afterwards.

Her daughter would be named after a great leader of the church, Sarafina.  Thus Sarafina beni’Kamilah al’Phoenir entered the world, her entire future already set forth in holy writ.  Between her mother’s incredible magical powers and the careful guidance throughout her childhood, Sarafina became exactly what she was intended to become, a Mystic of the Church of Isis.  A genius with an intellect to exceed even her mother’s, Sarafina was sent off to Kar’Dhaer at fourteen, to begin her own formal education.  And though Kami knew that her daughter would not bloom properly under an overbearing eye of her own mother, she still had the local Reverend Mother at the Temple of Isis on Syvasmyr keep tabs on her.

As Sarafina’s magics began to grow, she had the opportunity to visit her mother and her mother’s long time familiar, Maahes.  Despite its planar nature, Maahes was still aging.  He’d fathered a pack of cubs which were themselves beginning to grow up.  Was it fate, predestination, or simply good family planning then that Sarafina would end up with one of the cubs as her own familiar?  By the time she graduated from Kar’Dhaer, the cub had grown enough to go out into the world of danger as an adventuring Mystic’s eyes and ears.

Sarafina was clearly educated by her mother in many things, and by Kar’Dhaer’s scientists and paratechs in others.  Her training as a medical doctor follows much in her mother’s footsteps, with mastery of medical science and genetics, and full competence in most of the sciences, including her mother’s specialty in forensic investigation.  She’s more widely travelled than her mother was at the same age, and has been checked out in the latest Arrallonian aircraft as a pilot, navigator and operator.  She’s a bit more martial than her mother was early on, and also possesses a full array of metamagic feats, though her spells are still quite low level.  She’s trained in the Frelenat fighting style, with Ki powers to enhance her melee abilities, and even has a few Erotic spells and feats to keep her from falling to the seductive powers of magical enchantresses.  Mother made sure of that before she attended Kar’Dhaer, having gone there herself and knowing the kind of spellcasters the place often attracts.
