This was my mom's mother day gift She asked me months ago to make her a bookmark, right before mother's day I finally decided what I wanted to craft for her.

My mom's favorite color is turquoise, so I tried to create a design around it. I knew I wanted to incorporate a representation of my siblings and me, I made several sketches and finally my hubby helped me come up with this it was his idea to add a cat to represent our mutual love for cats. My mom's favorite flower is yellow roses, so I added tiny yellow flowers and some white ones for contrast, I used the oportunity to practice polymer clay embroidery (I think I'm getting better at it!).

The image represents from left to right: a black cat (probably my Freddie), me (I have a short hair and I'm wearing a purple shirt my mom gave me), my brother (he's tall, thin, and with short hair) and my sister (she has very long hair, very femenine, wears lots of dresses and specially a red dress that gives me nightmares).

You probably can't tell from this photo but the image is very small, and I used tiny bits of polymer clay to create it nothing was painted. It was quite a challenge, but I loved it! The idea was inspired by the beautiful work of Eva Thissen, I love her amazingly detailed pendants however, I made my best to come up with my own design and style.

My mom loved her gift, she promptly removed the round piece and made a pendant out of it she decided it was better suited for a pendant and not a bookmark. I suspected this would happen, but I still find it amusing She says she gets a lot of comments about it, she wore it to a couple of crafting conventions and people asked her where to buy their own. I'm very honored, but the only thing I care about is that my mom liked it

Technical stuff: Handmade with polymer clay by me, no molds, premades or bought pieces were used. Everything was crated using polymer clay, I didn't use any paints or any other materials. The metal findings were purchased from ebay and the beads were purchased locally. The round blank pendant is 2.5 cm (1 inch) wide. The bookmark is 8 cm long.
