Dang, talk about a rude awakening.
Elovir'ri's design is so pretty. If his colouration was more saturated I think it would look too busy, what with all the feathers jutting out, but the pale body with coloured tips works really well. It's fancy without being in-your-face about it. Is his gem an opal?

He really stands out because of the feathers, when everyone else is scaly. Do all Opals have the feather thing happening, just with different colours between individuals? (I bet a black opal would be gorgeous.)

Opals are one of the more "feathery" breeds, along with Topazes (you saw one getting its face pummelled in page 2, and there's a Tsairo-Topaz on this page) and Pearls (you'll see one on page 8). A few other breeds have "feathers" sometimes, especially if there's interbreeding with one of the above breeds.
