Description This is the Solar System of the star Dendrix. The fourth planet is Keta, where my "Orion Force" RP universe is centered.

Done completely in Pixia

Planet Keta

Keta is considered the embodiment of a strong, neutral world, holding alliance to none but her own children. Keta is an earth-like planet in the Dendrix Primary Solar System, 575 light-years from Earth. The bright orange star Dendrix Prime drifts in a sparse stellar cluster referred to as the Rogue Dendrix Archipelago in the Great Rift between the Orion Spur and Sagittarius Arm of the Galaxy. Dendrix Prime is the largest and brightest star in the Archipelago, and its solar system has the heaviest and most diverse population in the cluster. Due to Keta’s location, it is a perfect halfway stopover point for those travelling between the Alliance or A.I. and Consortium held space. Keta has been compared to a modern-day Casablanca and has the most varied alien population in all known space. Keta is the planet Dendrix is most known for, but there are four other earth-like or near earthlike bodies in the Dendrix Primary solar system.

Keta’s gravity and air pressure are about 20% heavier than what a Human is used to on Earth. The summers are blistering, and the winters blustery. The species here are aggressive and resilient. It is a hostile place, especially to an outsider who does not know its nature. Many unwary come to Keta and are never heard from again.

The DJringlin pirate Clans may lord over Keta, but many other groups have interests across the globe. Mantaidan nation-tribes are ever present, engaging in innumerable nefarious activities. The spiritual and secretive Grotix are another of Keta’s native sentient races. A multitude of individuals from countless other races call Keta home. Maxtercorp of Planet Earth occupies the Phylos Tri-City area in the south, with an Aquillan city-state called Aephus a mountain range away. Keta is a place of extremes and wild variations.

If Keta had an official capitol city, it would be YeBocha Spaceport in the northern island continent of YeBoch-Arim. No other place on the planet epitomizes the chaotic spirit of Keta than YeBocha. The population of the city is anywhere from 28 – 30 million, but this number has not and never could be officiated. Due to the lack of regulations, anything and everything can be found here, somewhere, by someone, for the right price. (See “Dendrix Primary Solar System” for more details.) Many Humans pronounce YeBocha as “YAY boh kah”, but the more correct local pronunciation is closer to, “yeh BOO chah”.

Per Treaties with the DJringlin Clans, there are no Alliance or Aquillan Embassy within the Spaceport of YeBocha. The only one in the area is the Alliance Embassy within the Hybyari Municipality, submerged off the coast 3 miles out, 600 feet down.

Prominent Ketan Races

DJringlin:  Squat, thick patriarchal humanoids. Brash and confrontational. If you want to play “the Warrior”, and ruling species of Keta, play a DJringlin. Male: 5’9” 300lb, Female: 5’3” 250lb. “By Khembris, your line shall end! Your females will grieve your ruin as I take them for my own!”

Grotix: Large hairy bipeds with gliding wings from wrist to lower leg. Cloistered and serene. Play a Grotix to be the laidback hedonistic spiritualist, just trying to hold on for the wild ride that is Keta. Male: 6’9”, 295lb, Female: 6’4” 235lb  “When the storm comes, it is the flexible tree that withstands.”

Mantaidan: Stocky, hairy, durable bipeds. Brutal and rancorous. Play a Mantaidan to be the reviled, shadowy thug that lurks in the alleys and sewers. Male: 5’ 190lb, Female: 5’3” 210lb. “You tear us down, again and again we will rise.” ~From the Book of Kwa KaTing

Oan'Ala looks almost like a failed brown dwarf... I'd imagine that a solar system that large and varied would provide the Ketans with a lot of resources and living space - provided they can work together enough to harness them.

Nice job of world-building! DJringlins sound a little like the Hoffmanites of Phil Foglio's Buck Godot series.

Okay, the DJringlinsare a little more svelte than the Hoffmanites are...

The corpulent shop keeper in this image is also a DJringlin... not svelte much...

I can see the comparison though.

Great, now I'm imagining Lathan = Borderlands, where they smuggle weapons and stuff to whatever side of the war is paying.

"I got a great vacation home on Lathan, My cousin's brother's uncle left this place to me when he died, real quick on the end of my gun like, Great vacation spot...you like dust, right?"

OK, I have zero knowledge of Borderlands... I came up with the name Lathan in the mid 1990's... but thanks for the comment?

Awww... well. Borderlands 3 is coming out so... Ummm I'd sum it up as Mad Max in Space? I saw the concept working out as the somewhat less reputable  moon of the "Casablanca in Space" going on Keta. Where the deals too "hot" for Keta, happen.

TheMightyGorga In reply to runewuff [2020-03-07 01:36:17 +0000 UTC]

The moon Lathan itself is mostly desert and prairie, with sparse surface water. The one exception is the crater lake near the equator which formed as part of the Imperium terraforming process. A comet composed of mostly ice was herded and control-crashed into the moon, facilitating much of the process needed to make the moon habitable. Most of the crops on Lathan are grown in subterranean caverns, where water has seeped down and is more plentiful. There are no native life forms on the moon. Everything alive on Lathan was brought from somewhere else. While the DJringlin Clans control Keta, Lathan is more lawless. It is said that Keta has a notorious reputation, but Lathan is even less reputable. If a deal is “too hot” to go down on Keta, then go to Lathan.
