Description
Been in a landscape-y mood, so I figured I might make some fantastic ones for a little bit, because that's how I roll. This time, based on some places I've seen in dreams.
So, to start with, we have this little beauty, the pyramid palace in the middle of a frozen hell. Nice place, really. The walls are made of living, glowing crystal, it's surrounded by a lake of an acidic, freezing chemical slurry the palace feeds on, and it's the only structure around for the next, oh, five-hundred miles or so.
Of course, the frozen hellscape outside might be ever so slightly more welcoming. Inside is a winding, windowless labyrinth, lit only by the crystal making up the place. Stalking the ever-shifting halls and corridors are frozen automatons, ever searching for intruders. And they know there are intruders - the palace told them.
Far more dangerous however are the crossroads. In the center of each is a portal, calling out to any who pass with a siren's song. Where they lead to no one knows, for none have come back out of them.
At the very top, sitting in her obsidian throne room, sits the palace's queen. She is only a rumor, but so is her palace, and it's real enough. She is said to have built the palace herself, and is solely responsible for turning this land into the icy wasteland it is now. Should you break through the palaces defenders and mazes, you will find her seat of power. Should you impress her, she will teach you to see the red strings of fate, and how to manipulate them.
Anyway, expect more of these, complete with more glowy nonsense and giant-ass crystals.
