A Sequence 11 retcon; I don’t think Haytham truly intended to kill Connor even if his son was crippling his Order. Maybe he’d mistaken affection as curiosity when he let him live. Anyway, at that part where Connor’s plan stupidly gets himself injured (firing cannonballs at where you’re going to be? You didn’t think this through, boy) and succumbs to his wound during their fight. Haytham is stunned and his fatherly instincts kick in as they try to cling onto the last physical memento of Ziio.Please reblog from Tumblr instead of reposting, thank you ouo/

Haytham had Connor pinned down and was choking him, into submission. At first, he was surprised that Connor wasn't fighting back until he saw the small pool of blood coming out of Connor's side and Connor's eyes had slide shut.
"CONNOR OPEN YOUR EYES!!" Haytham shouted shaking Connor a bit, Connor didn't respond.
"Even if their full of hate-please, Connor...open your eyes." Haytham gasped as he hugged his son close despite all his best-laid plan's...he'd killed his own son...something he swore he'd never do.
"Father..." Haytham heard he felt Connor move and his eyes were opened, not full of hate but pain.
"Connor thank God," Haytham said carefully picking Connor up, Connor didn't even struggle. Charles Lee and the Templar's would have to wait, right now his Son needed him.

The Kenway Saga is so tragic. Edward, Haytham and Connor. Edward deserved more time with his family. And Haytham and Connor deserved to truly know each other.

I was thinking that when playing that scene. There's NO way Haytham didn't know or forgot that Connor had a hidden blade. He put himself in the most open, vulnerable position he possibly could have by having both hands on Connor's throat.

There is a Theory out there that Haytham let Connor kill him. He wanted Charles Lee to live but he couldn't bring himself to kill his own son so he put himself in a vulnerable position on purpose, so Connor could kill him.

I legitimately teared up at this which is very rare (I'm not heartless i swear, idk why but fictional things just don't make me cry no matter how emotionally attached I am to them)

You know,after walthroughting AC 3,I was...Just sad abour Conor,`cause it`s hard to kill own father,even if he`s a "bad one".Looking on your picture I cried because Connor died,not being so caring about Haytham...But when i found that Haythem,firstly, ordered to kill Connor,and then himselv throw a knife to cut that rope and safe him...I`m really confused...And,probably,if Connor died that day,it could be possible for Haytham to regret...Truly regret...

You know,there is a fanfic where Haytham gets into alternative reality instead of Connor...My God,how glad (and sad a bit) I am for him! Imagine how happy he would be if Ziio was alive?! In the DLC Connor was fighting against Washington "just because he must safe the world.AGAIN".Haytham finally get a family...A real life he should have chosen.I`m sure he will hold on.He is Haytham.He can handle Washington.
But...I think the worst part will be when it`s over...It was an interactive vision,and...Sometime he had to come back.I think it would be the worst competition for me-to understand he lost all he had...

It's actually really impressive how this fanart and really, a lot of the extra material and fanworks have managed to take an already intensely depressing story and make it even more depressing. I don't cry at too much, but this fanart made me tear up and is one of my favorites. Incredibly well done. Now please excuse me as I nurse my broken feels in a corner.

It would be one heck of a twist in the story. But really sad to because Conner is an awesome character
Haytham is to but it fits the story, man if Haytham had killed Conner it would be interesting to see how the rest of the story played out
