"All gave some, some gave all."Memorial day is one of the mos somber days of the year. Yes, we get a day off work and eat lots of BBQ but I try to remember the meaning of the holiday- freedom was paid for in blood. It was paid for in the tears of those left behind and the scars of those that were just a few paces away. My folks both served, my grandfathers both served, my little brother served, and my little sister is currently serving so any holiday commemorating our heroes, both fallen and still standing tall, is near and dear to me. To all that served and their families- thank you. ;3; Our heroes will never be forgotten!

Sparrowhand was one of the two original knights under the high king that survived into the present age. He represented the virtue of Patience and lived a life of chastity and service. He wasn't the best fighter and for the the longest time his being blind was seen as...an insult to his order. However, Sparrowhand was able to lead a force of men through a blizzard because he knew the land without sight. He often saw the best in people- little things that those with sight had easily over-looked. During his lifetime he became something of a father and brother to those that needed it and found himself put into a position of authority. It was ill-fitted to him but there was no one else could could take up the burden. In the end, he wasn't even granted a warrior's end. His compassion blinded him to threats and an assassin disguised as war refugee poisoned the food supply. Sparrowhand was found dead in his office along with several of the generals within the safety of his own stronghold.
...I may or may not have cried when we killed him off.

This is an excellent picture, even if the connotations are more grim and contemplative! I like the color choices and how bright and hot the fire looks in combination with the white-hot glow coming off of Sparrowhand's armor. That is also a really unfortunate way for him to die! D: I typically plan which characters I intend to kill off in a story...but I don't plan on growing so attached to them!!

Thank you! And it was a very sad scene to rp for sure ;; I hated killing him off, but it worked for the story and the events. It wasn't planned up till a few days before it happened XD
And thank you ;___; I'm still working out a good way to do armor- I'm getting closer without driving myself insane. XD;;
And yeah >>; but fitting for him. He was extremely awkward and a little over trusting at times. XD

You're welcome! The deaths that catch you by surprise are the ones that tend to have the most effect in stories and character motivations, though if it's just for shock value then they don't hold a whole lot of water -- me @ most movies/shows I watch: cease the senseless killing and give these characters some arcs, dangit!!
That's good! I'm fine with drawing armor, it's just the shading and highlighting part that gets to be confusing if you go into too many details! >_< And then I see stuff like John Howe's art and just go "why even bother?" lol

Yes >< This is true. There's some shows/games/books where you KNOW someone's going to die. You just feel it. You're sad- but it doesn't make you as sad as an unexpected one does. >_>: Also timing. You know WHEN someone's going to die too. I like to sneak it up on folks. XD

I went into Infinity War knowing who was going to die/disappear, but that didn't make the deaths (well, the ones where people legit died) any less jarring! I found this image on Pinterest and it will never not be accurate. :')

I think of that now whenever I read or watch something where I connect with a side character and have a strong suspicion they're going to die. :')

Oh yeah XD I'm reading a series and there's a character I love. He's kind, strong, a good leader with a level head...he's so toast. I'm sure of it.

This looks wonderful dear!! Makes me a teary eyed! I salute and thank those in your family who have served. Both my grandfathers served (they're with the Lord now), my father served, and my cousin just joined the army late last year. My heart goes out to all of them, here and gone before us. Wonderful work!

I think three of my grandpa's were military (paternal, maternal, and great-grandfather). This being said, I know how fake the war movies can be but I still like them anyways.
I hear some terminal patients, when they find they are going to die, simply lie down, dust their shirt off, and try to smile as they close their eyes.
This kind of reminded me of dat. He lie dere so perfect.
