Description This is just a temporary upload. I'm hoping to get some advice on this, because I keep feeling like something's off, but I really can't put my finger on what that is, exactly. So be as critical as possible, because I REALLY need it.

First off, I love the concept - I didn't notice the bird and trees at first glance because they look like part of her clothes or something, but one I did it's just brilliant! I like her meditative expression and peaceful pose too, but together with the diamond shaped foliage it looks like she's going to a funeral..

I am not sure what's inside her head.. the top of a tree? It's related to the foliage framing so I'd somehow connect these two parts. Maybe have leaves overflowing from her head?

The lines are clean and varied, and you made good use of negative space to make the shapes more interesting. As to color, right now it's just a nice clear contrast between the subject and background. If it's my painting I would choose a color scheme depending on the mood I want the viewer to have - maybe blues and greens if peaceful, reds if you want to try to stir emotion, etc..

Overall, great job!

The funeral pose is actually semi-intentional. It's something I didn't realize at first, but decided to keep it. I thought it kinda fit the idea of content and "at peace," so to speak.

Yeah, it's supposed to be a brain tree. It was kinda a last minute choice, so I'm not too fond of it either. I do rather like the idea of overflowing leaves (Scatter-brain, hah), but sadly, as good an idea it is, this lady is supposed to be a closed bottle, ala those self-sufficient eco-orbs you can buy (look them up, they're pretty cool actually!) Opening her up kinda defeats the symbolism. I will try to re-work the brain bits a little more though, because it is pretty wonky looking.

Oh, adding more blue sounds like a good fix! I think the thing that has been bothering me is that the colors aren't really unified, and it kinda makes the piece really divided in terms of tone. I mean you have a nice calming green and a bright, exciting pink. I think the pink is kinda needed to really make the organ similarities clear, but that doesn't mean the colors should be so polar.

Thanks for the comment!

You're welcome!

OH haha yes, those mini ecosystems-in-a-jar are awesome (which reminds me, I've always wanted to get one of those )! I'm glad you found a solution to the colors

Different shades of the green in the background perhaps? 5 shades of pink vs 1 green makes the background look a bit simplistic, but that's just what my lazy eye spies

I.... honestly did not even consider that, and now I feel kinda stupid for not doing so

I'll try and work around with that, but no guarantee for results. I onlt have a mouse to work with, so I don't know how neat my lines will turn out
