A sight and sound not often seen today . The whole of the Croatian Air Force fixed wing transport fleet, 707 and 727 - both An-32Bs - are seen taxiing in after some formation flying above Pleso Air Base just outside Zagreb. The only operator of the type in Europe (apart from the Ukraine), Croatia is planning to withdraw these magnificent machines in 2013 due to their high fuel consumption and increasingly expensive maintenance. Up till now the most hardworking aeroplanes in the force, these two have been as far away as Afghanistan, supporting Croatian Army troops operating under ISAF. Thoroughly overhauled several times, they are equipped with an updated avionics suite - featuring some Western-built equipment - and flare packs seen mounted on the lower part of the fuselage.
