continue to play up the theme of the little mermaid ^^I think this is the most touching love story ever! she was so young and loved so truly T_T
I painted the scene where the Little Mermaid taken leave of her beloved prince and turns into sea foam.
I did not plan to draw a large detailed picture, so did a rough sketch portrait. but then I got carried away and to finished it ^_^
Yeah, I know... blood was unnecessary and blatant. I don't know why I decides to add it. sorry)))) hope you still like it!

I'm "+fav:ing it because of the blood. It makes it so melodramatic and provides a pop of contrasting color. It also reinforces the underwater feeling, so you were able to leave the lighting effects subtle and moody. Also, wonderful expression.

So sad. I love the original Andersen story. I hated the Disney story because it changed the whole meaning of the original which was of love and sacrifice. The blood works because it makes the idea of her sacrifice more visceral. However in Anderson's tale, it actually has a bittersweet happy ending because she turned into a daughter of the air, a spirit, after jumping into the sea. There was no pain. I can imagine your picture as the metamorphosis in that split second between death and spirit.
