I just watched the special George Lucas Directors Cut on DVD. I'd never seen the original, they'd pumped it up with a lot of CGI special effects. Very sad story, brilliant concept and lots of bald chicks, but the cinematography was cut together rather choppily. Amazing for Lucas's first film, based on a film he actually did in film school! I like the contrast between the realism of the front human shapes and the vectorization and cleaner forms of the figure on the background.
Apart of that I think the hands turned out big (if it was not your inttention

I tried to draw inspiration from the actresses expression throughout the movie. The premise was that the whole poplulation is supposed to be taking drugs to supress their emotions, and the character LUH 3417 stops taking her meds, and starts to realize what a crappy situation she's in. She's constantly got this worried frown throughout the whole thing, practically on the verge of tears.

It's a shame hardly anyone's ever heard of it. Only us die hard Lucas fans I guess.
