We mnie wywołuje to troszę uczucie jakby - list szaleńca.

A i takie małe pytanko - 'others'?

Versatis In reply to Aphariel [2009-04-20 16:07:47 +0000 UTC]

Pozdrawiam. (:

this reminds me of one of the best books i've read so far (it was on immortality). great job working on such a complex theme. i love the aesthetics here as well, such an eye candy for me.

The title grew in my mind some time before the work on the piece began. Only after the calligraphy stage was done and the symbol created, did the whole thing turn to that theme. Can you tell me the author and title of that book, it may be worth reading if you say so. Thank you for the comment and

i'm afraid it's a Turkish book, and i doubt that it will ever be translated to full effect, if at all, since the atmosphere created in the book (which is what connects the book and this image in my head) is particularly dependent on the language. still though, it's called Amat, by Ihsan Oktay Anar.
again, lovely work, as is the rest of your gallery

I see. I have no choice but to learn Turkish. I get a strange feeling when I think that each language has at least one book or poem that cannot exist in any other language, and some even require the particular cultural context to be fully appreciated. But it's fascinating at the same time. Teşekkürler.

this was one of those books turkish is my native tongue and i still struggled to understand the book fully since it used 1. old ottoman words that are rarely used today (which is a part of the author's style) and 2. some heavy sailor/navy jargon, both old and new. there are many english books that were easier reads for me

"Wanted - only alive - Jesus of Nazareth.

To some extent it was, the calligraphic improvisation was also therapeutical, but it didn't turn out the way that would be good for a finished piece of work, but indeed, it was a nice stage of work, intuitive, free. But then the moods changed and the setting I added is calmer, more static and invites some colours. Thanks for the comment and the

It is beautiful. I especially like the way you have formed the concentric fields of color with the various stylistic elements you have used (text, paper, stains). I feel like this gives the piece a presence at a distance that catches the eye, but also adds drama and intrigue when approached and the detail becomes visible.

It is at once classically elegant as well as distressed and modern.

I was not sure about adding colours but I thought that there's no reason I should be so conservative and stick only to, let's say, "library-born" colours. And this piece was a perfect opportunity to add some envious greens.

The whole piece started as a calligraphic improvisation, and that was that wild stage, the therapeutical one, in fact; and then the moods changed and I started building the static setting for it, much brighter and calmer. I really like the final effect too, and I'm happy to read such an insightful comment. Thank you so much.
