Ny is not in good terms with Nala since cubhood but things just got worse with the age.
The day that Ny got attacked by Chumvi, Nala was with her since she didn't wanted to sneak out to neighbor kingdom by herself.
Note that Nala was a teen that day and scared she run away looking for help, Nywele blame her for what happened, since she didn't tried to help.
Even if Nala tried it wouldn't work anyway, one of their fate would be the same.

Ny never forgave Nala for this, and hostility became a everyday thing.
She ever said once that everything would be better if Nala was dead, and how much of fav Nala was for their mother.
Later on Nywele regreted these words.
