Desert Import Log 27th June 2011:

We reached Cairo with King Selk in tow and already had a lot of interest in him and Cleo as we travelled through the marketplace to find the IEC shipping truck.

En route however, Cleo decided that out of nowhere, she was not going to leave the marketplace. She planted her hooves and would not budge. We tried absolutely everything to get her to move forward so that we could ship them home, but to no avail.

We phoned Vicky back at IEC and she said to get King loaded up and safe, and that Cleo had, 'Mysterious ways' and that we should be patient with her. Very suprisingly King let us load him seperately from Cleo as we split the team, half to stay with the stubborn mare, and half to see to the ruby stallion. After about an hour of waiting for Cleo to have a stroke of genuis, we all got annoyed and started to get distracted by the marketplace, leaving her to be held by our import intern Anya. She wasn't going anywhere after all.

That is actually where we were wrong, a few minutes later upon returning to the spot where Cleo and Anya had stood ,there was nothing but a mass of hoofprints and two sandal drag lines in the sand. We followed the trail through the market until we got to the livestock end where we saw Cleo's golden bottom and a paniced Anya trying to get her front away from a black stallion.

As we approached the horse a man came forward to admire Cleo and explained that this stallion had turned up in his livestock pens a few days before and refused to move, he could not sell him and he could not shoo him, he would not move! We know a certain mare like that.

He said that if we could move him we could have him, and that it would be a great service to free up his pens again.

With a whistle and a lot of effort we finally got Cleo to turn and follow us again, and while we were somewhat expecting it, the stallion started to follow. He loaded them both onto the truck with King, who seemed to take no notice of the new stallion, while the new stallion cowered and shook in fear of him at first, but got more confident throughout the first days travel.

We are on the road and on our way back home to IEC, hopefully our importers will be enthralled with what we have found for them!

He has gold pillars wrapped around the bottom of all four legs and around his neck and nose, with one extending up like a blaze. He has golden egyptian eye markings and blue bracelet markings from hock to knee on all four feet. Golden hooves and gold streaks through both his mane and tail.

Discipline: Looks to be excellent for showing and endurance.

Personality:
From what we have surmised so far this boy is rather laid back, he is quiet and obedient, affectionate and not spooked by anything. He actually seems to be very content, all the time. We expect him to be one of the most gentle stallions in the breeding stock, hopefully he will suit his new home.
