I bought a new Nikon lens - a 18-200mm with a stabilizer. I loved my 18-70mm but I hated my 24-200mm lens and I donΒ΄t have to carry two lenses

*whistle* nice, is that as versatile as it sounds? I'm still hacking it with two, one obviously much more used than the other. I bought a longer lens for myself a while ago, and was disappointed by the surprising change in sharpness. I believe it's a 300 max, but the zoom is pretty much inoperable without a tripod or very fast exposure settings.

300mm is a lot - I own a cheap 300mm-zoom but I am using it only when the sun is shining

Anything else sans tripod would be a horrendous experience. 
I later realized it was most likely that even when I thought I was steady enough or accurate, there was enough hand motion to blur the image enough to lose detail at the speeds I was used to using. (I remember now I think it's a 75-300 Β or 225)
