fall asleep like
clockwork, a disease

that crashes my body
every four minutes and
thirty eight seconds,
eyelids heavy

and body boneless,
mind scrambled,
sight spotted.

the fight against
exhaustion is inescapable

even in my sleep, and
those afternoons i wake
up more tired than
ever

are the ones where i
can’t find rest, unconscious.
