Description This is a painting that I made a couple of days ago. Looks like my taste for art, especially painting, is coming back! I had enough of taking pictures

I just started to paint red and green, thinking about a psychedelic colorful swirl, and slowly... well... this is the result. Tell me what you think this is...

Painting on canvas with acrylics, 20 cm x 15 cm.

Beautiful coloration, I love the way the red and green tones swirl around the characters and the whole composition you created! Awesome canvas!

Thank you very much Actually, the characters came in the end, so I must say that they do not care so much about twirling colors about them, they just go trough it, in their own weird way...

You're welcome! I see - love that idea! Weirdness is always nice and those two look really harmonic in their own little strange world!

Yah, I asked some people to tell me what they see in this painting and I got some interesting answers. You can read them in other comments if you are interested

Light yellow in some places was enough of giving this illusion, and the alternation between red-yellow and green.

Good job!I personaly don't like working with yellow cause to paint depth is very difficult with yellows.I have feeling I'm able to see less tones of yellow colour in compare with other colours.

Wintella In reply to great-queen-morrigan [2012-07-24 04:08:08 +0000 UTC]

I don't really agree. There is so much tones in the yellows, and they are shiny, so you can play with different shyness. Yah, may be it's less color, but there is so much light in yellow...

I don't doubt it at all! There surely are!But i simply not able to see themI suspect I could get better in it if I would practise with yellow, but I've never tried it

Yah, try, like an autumn scene with a lot of golden yellow leaves... On a shiny day. You might learn

Thank you It came out of no where actually, I didn't even planned to do nothing specific when I started. And that't crazy how it's becoming one of the most popular of my pieces.

Its an interesting idea, particularly calling it 'into oblivion' which we all ultimately face, i think the taller figure leading the shorter one suggests we don't have to face oblivion alone, which is a nice thought to have

Interesting opinion My fiancΓ© calls them "aliens" or "humanoids". It reminds me of some kind of dream (that I never had, by the way...). And the figures, I think that they are blood related (parent and children, but I didn't put a clear gender on them, because don't know myself). As you can see, their arms and legs are kind of more blurry, meaning that they are slowly disappearing in the light further they go in this colorful tunnel of light. There is no darkness... May be, in the end, my painting means that life ends without all scary stuff that we could think of, that after the death, we are slowly going in some colorful outer space, like a dream... Sorry, all this just came in my mind...

no need to apologise! i think its nice to have ambiguity over what the entities are, what it all means because for me the whole idea of art is to provoke a reaction and make people think, this piece does that well

I might have a go at something along a similar theme, if i do i'll credit you for the original inspiration

Thank you and I would totally love to see what kind of thing can come out from other artists inspired by my own art. Being an inspiration to someone is a really big honor for me in itself

That's a nice thing Commented! And looks like one random thing made by someone can inspire some other random things to other people. It's what I call creativity

Need to check this out I already heard of Dr Who, but never watched it. What is vortex looks like?

Tearahk In reply to Wintella [2012-06-01 02:29:02 +0000 UTC]

its a great series.

The time vortex sort of looks like a large collection of ringed clouds bunch together in an endless tunnel. At some points in the vortex, electricity discharges and zaps anything that goes through it. At other points of the vortex it looks like the clouds were set on fire and are burning for all of eternity. It's actually quite beautiful when you look at it. ^_^

Oh waw, I will make a search on google about this vortex. And the description of clouds set on fire kind of actually remind of my painting It's exactly what I thought about the front red part of them when I looked at my painting when it was finished.
