Personally, in terms of representation, I prefer that new characters are made and that said new characters happen to be established to have different identity traits, NOT have established character's identity traits changed.
Because at least making an original character that happens to have any identity traits the creator(s) want to represent in their fiction at least takes actual effort and genuine creativity to create such an original character.
Nonetheless, fair enough, we'll just have to agree to disagree in terms of how representation is handled in fiction.

He's simply calling out the extreme fanboys and extreme fangirls who demand for an LGBT ship to become canon even if there's reasons that it's not canon (eg. characters being established as straight or the characters just being friends), and he's mocking them in a funny way.
