A thing.I want to eventually redesign all of the important Ginga Nagareboshi Gin characters, and so I started with Gin. He's got some red because a lot of silver brindle akitas have it, heterochromia because nobody even knows what colour his eyes are what with them changing every incarnation, long scars that stretch more over his face, white markings that emphasis his eyebrows as opposed to just eye dots, and a small muzzle and large eyes to emphasis his age (unfortunately he just looks like a kitty hnng).
This isn't really final in any way, and was mostly just done so I could get some of my ideas down. Enjoy the weird mutt.

prrrobably but tbh I like the idea of having his coat be all weird and half silver. In a way it sorta adds to his "I'M SO COOL AND IMPORTANT" factor I guess lol. That was also part of the reason I made his eyes the way I did, cuz he's the speshul anime chosen kid who kicks everyone's ass and is such a great leader and omg you guys

Heh, I like the idea of giving him two different colored irises. Gin's magical changing eye color is very inconsistent.
But to be fair, Takahashi's illustrations of Gin in the original GNG manga had him mostly with green or blue eyes, but people got more used to seeing his eyes being clearly brown in the GNG anime that they were pissed when he had blue eyes in GDW.
But I like this redesign. My personal preference for Gin's design mostly comes from his GNG anime colors with brown eyes and uncolored legs just so he can be more distinguishable from other Akitas like Weed or Joe. But this is nice too.

My favorite canonical design is also Gin's design in the GNG anime. There's better contrast to be had with the brown eyes and he and his son don't look exactly alike with his legs being grey. I can actually understand some people getting upset over Gin's design in the manga and GDW cartoon though - it couldn't be more obvious that appearance-wise Weed is just a smaller carbon copy of his father.

You have a point.
If you took the manga designs for Gin and Weed, aside from the different styles they're drawn in, they'd pretty much look the exact same, aside from Gin's scars (and on occassion his collar).
