Description
My senior student film! Of Ringling College of Art and Design. This took a little over a year to make. The 2D animatic for it is located on my website, randa-rivera.com . There are a lot of things I dislike about it, but it's more or less done and I'm not touching it again. XD No one could PAY me to take that year again! Created in Maya, rendered with Pixar's Renderman. I don't think I used zbrush, but I used a little mudbox, photoshop, and headus UVLayout.The birds' names are Dawn and Duncan, and they were inspired by Bower birds.

a scam artist with a fake anime studio has this in their 3D Animation section of their portfolio claiming it as the work of their studio

there's some stuff I've been able to find out about them in my journal.
and I think they were trying to find an excuse to give as to why so much of their portfolio was taken from dA users, which is how they got caught, trying to use this site to hire people to work for them.
based on what I've discovered I'm 100% certain it's a scam attempt trying to prey primarily on people aspiring to become professional animators and those who want to create a professional level animation but don't have the means to do it on their own and anyone else naive enough to fall for them. I'm also pretty sure it's Bangladesh based, not Japanese, since all the phone numbers they give are from there.

Great work! Seriously! I'm particulary impressed with the wings rig. I guest it have been pretty hard to do... Can I ask you how you did it?

Thank you! The wings were something I agonized over for a while, and I still think I could've done them better. There's nothing complex about them - it's a simple arm rig! But the rigger we used came with the ability to curve the upper and lower arms, so I could make a decent "C" shape when folded. It's the Setup Machine if you're curious.

A rigging tool/plugin. You place the joints within your character and it does the rest. You still have to paint weights, though.

This film has pretty high def 3D visuals.
I'm guessing that whole year you worked on it; getting the graphics to look that good must have been the hardest part.
But in the end; it still rcoks.
