Nice photo, it does indeed look a lot like a black widdow. Might even be one, there are quite a few variations on those. (Sub species if you will)
Then again, it might be a look alike. Quite a few more of those breeds about.
I'm not an expert on Arachnology, and I'm not to fond of spiders... I like one of the older arachnids...

i believe this is not a black widow since black widow's have the red mark like a sand-clock

yes that is what I have noticed also I do not believe it is a widow but when I was working down there I did not want to take a chance on that either

actually black widows release some sticky substance before biting, biting it's their last resort

well now you know that if a spider is making you sticky, you should probably get away

No, it is not a Widow, for one thier marks are on their underside, not the back, and it is in a distinct hour glass shape. But it is a beautiful spider. Awsome shot!
