I don't usually post references, but as it's apparently International Penguin Day -and I've loved penguins since being a kid- how better to celebrate? XD
Mordecai McGallen
Mordecai 'Morty' McGallen was born on the 30th December, 1933. His family originally hailed from the Falkland Islands but had at some point settled in Britain before his birth. On his fourteenth birthday, he joined the LNER as a cleaner in 1947. Rather to his annoyance, he only worked for the LNER for one day, as the company would be nationalised into British Railways the following day. During his career on the railways, he rose to become the fireman on a J15 locomotive.
Mia McGallen
Mia is Mordecai's granddaughter. As a young girl, she would spend hours listening to his stories from his time on the railways. After college, she chose to study nursing in York. After finishing her studies, she moved to the City of Hearts for work. Here, she met and befriended Eileen. Since then, the two have been firm friends.
