There is something ridiculous about this picture. Though it’s called “melancholic”, it evokes rather laughter than melancholy. I used this word to emphasize the funny effect it has on me. The objects look somewhat amorphous – that’s an accident, I didn’t do anything purposeful to make them look like that. What I really like about this picture is the combination of colors.

From my point of view it's a Dali-style picture - well, that clock of his, you now, all the stuff... The plate looks like it floats in a beautiful lily pond or something... I don't know, it's so surrialistically impressionist

From my point of view, the word "melancholic" is funny (I can't explain why). The fact that "melancholic" and "cake" are not compatible makes it funny twice. I have no idea about the real temperament of the cake
Yeah, I know it looks like dalinism, but I didn't intend to copy his style. It's probably the impact of reading his autobiography XD
