Blaine was nervous. He was used to being around at the Hummel-Hudson house, but today was different. There were only six days left until Christmas Eve and Kurt invited him over to decorate the tree.

“It’s kind of tradition. Since Mom… I mean, Dad had always been a bit clumsy, he wasn’t so good at that, so I’ve done it, and I want you to come over to help.”

He knocked, and din’t have to wait long before Kurt opened the door, smiling.

“Come in, Dad and Finn are just finishing up the tree, so we’ll have a few minutes before we can start.”

They walked past the men in the living room, entering the kitchen. A welcoming, warm smell wavered all through the house, surrounding Blaine who wasn’t used to this homey-christmas feeling at all. Carole stood in the kitchen, working on some cookie dough, but smiling widely at them.

“Hi, Blaine. Did Kurt persuade you to help him?”

“He didn’t need much to convince me. I’m just glad he’d like to include me,” Blaine smiled politely, when Finn stomped into the room.

“Burt says it’s all ready now. Are you sure you don’t need me to help?”

“Definitely not, Finn. You’re not getting closer to that tree than 3 feet until it’s done. And even after that I won’t let you get closer without anyone supervising you.”

They all laughed, Carole’s voice carrying over the others. “I think you’re right, Kurt. He shouldn’t get too close to the tree.”

Finn just looked at them all, not very amused, and with “I think I’ll go over to Rachel now” he walked out the backdoor, grabbing his jacket as he passed the wardrobe.

Kurt grabbed Blaine’s hand as they walked back into the living room, intertwining their fingers. Burt had already left the room, knowing he should stay out of Kurt’s way. There was music playing softly in the background, and Kurt quickly kissed Blaine before he turned his attention to the various boxes, opening some of them to check their contents. They started unpacking everything and as they started decorating the tree, Blaine started singing along to the radio.
