I love where the story is going so far!
Also, not sure if you can say this, but is there any chance the costumes (or at least the hats) of the soldiers are based on Prussian/German soldiers from the 1800s?

The costume for the prince and his entourage are based on hussar uniforms from the late 1700/early 1800. The helmet of the prince is based on dragoon helmets
