This picture is imediately noticeable and catches the viewer's eye. The girl is reasonably young and completely unmarked in a white gown that givers her a sence of inosence and purity, but the pose and deep expression on her face shows that she is troubled. While her gauzy dress flows down from her perch whimsically, the back round is dark and dirty, rather like the feel of many adult problems. So if we were to put those beautifully constructed pieces and ideas the picture gives us together, it portrays a young, teenage girl still full of childhood unknowing that is troubled and thinking of the harsh world.
That is one view that seems like a possibly common one. Either way, the lighting might lights the girl and seems away into her dingy area of choice, creating an almost halo-like effect upon her. The neutral keeps not a feeling of firey temper or blue despair but sad pondering.
It is very beautifull.

A wonderful postion for the woman to show how much distress she is in, the flow of her dress and the color scheme of the background, as she is sitting on the window pane. As I look into her face, I can see how sad she is, I feel her emotion as I look at this photograph.
This photograph is very detailed indeed. This is a perfect photograph. I love it's originality and the quality the photograph is in. It amazes me how the photograph turned out to be stunning, I was pulled into the picture and I couldn't help but think "What if I were pulled into this postion?" I can really feel how sad she is. I am wondering why she is feeling so sad. Great Job and hope to see more of your beautiful artwork!!

I was browsing through the 'All Time Most Popular' pieces of art on dA, and I came across this stunning and bold picture. This photo is amazing, the contrast, the vision, the impact and technique. I was amazed when I first saw it, as the white dress seems to 'stand-out' against the clutter and the wall, but yet it blends into the overall palette as well, creating a very well done photo!

Although I've seen more photos taken in this style with the same idea towards it, this is by far the most powerful and amazing, as the beauty is captured extremely well with the techniques used. All I can say is; Well done!

Word's cannot describe how amazing this photo is. The first thing you should notice is the woman. The amazing thing is how she stands out with her white flowing dress amongst the brown and very dim background. The girl seems in a period of distress and you can tell something tragic or horrible has happened. The disaster on the ground might indicate what pain she went through. Looking closely..the look shows what she can feel and I can clearly read what emotion she has. Overall..this is one of the best artwork's I have ever seen and this should be recognized everyhwere

Well, what can I say? It has over a million views, and they're very well deserved. Lighting? perfect. Emotion? perfect. Position? perfect.

This image is pretty perfect, I particularly like the elegance of the dress, but the distress on her face. To me, it looks as if she has just done something drastically wrong (e.g. getting married to the wrong person). The 'destruction' and 'clutter' reflects this extraordinarily.

I'm not quite sure what you was trying to go for here, but it doesn't really focus on the person, sure I can feel her emotion slightly, but I can't be completely submerged in it.

The way the dress simply sticks to the wall as it's part of the destruction around her just adds to the effect which the picture has on the viewers.

Overall, this is an incredible piece of photography, and I'm completely in love with it, but that's the reason I'm only giving it 4 stars for impact.

There are no words to explain how beautiful this amazing photo is. With her depression, her signs of true sadness which only few can get in the most tragic circumstances, she really can reach under your skin. Her beauty is one of the first things you would notice after viewing this, although her sadness, her essence that whatever she wanted, it all went away, really catches your heart. The place she relaxes, with the noticeable debris of something clearly once grand, but now a near replica of a junkyard, she appears to not want to be near others as she knows everyone would not come find her there. The flows of her dress really add to this, no matter how minimal it appears in relevance to this, it drastically makes the photo much more depressing as it shows she is in a windy, cold place, the same as the inside of her heart feels. I sincerely feel bad for this innocent girl, for whatever could have been taken from her that removes a piece of her heart as well.

Hello, Zemotion!
Your photography skills are impressive! This photo is well crafted, and the scenery adds the the astonishing effect it gives. I approve of how you made her sitting in a window. It gives me the fleeting curiosity that maybe princesses also have there own sad corners of there mind that can't be shown in front of most people. Ireally can't find anything I dislike about this picture. The smashed items on the ground tell of frustration, and her long dress gives her a sense of elegance even in her present state. Beautiful girl, good effects. Great job overall!

When I saw this when I logged in, I almost went straight to my messages. But this caught my eye. The contrast of the flowing white dress stood out amoung the dark background. After complimented her beautiful dress in my head, I looked at her emotion expressed in her body language. I love how she looks distressed, yet the dress makes the whole thing happy, until you focus in on her facial expression, and how she is placed in the photograph. I like how the debris on the ground, for it adds effect. It almost tells a story, like this beautiful girl in a beautiful dress ran to this beatend down old place and sat on the window to think. Overall, this is a wonderful and invisioning picture. C:

I don't believe the replys made were designed to insult or "hate" on your opinion. Its lovely that you felt in a way inspired by the artist's work, but critiques are a form of constructive critisim based on the commenter's perspectives. they are designed to help an aritist see their work through other's eyes in all ways. Stating simple adoration is more of a comment or applause then it is a crituque.

It is easy to wonder why this amazing piece of art by zemotion became the most appreciated portraiture of the whole community. Perhaps just because of its amazing composition, which looks like a frame within another frame and gives the observer an incredible idea of depth. Perhaps because of its sense of melancholy, blended with the idea that a new hope will be brought, which apparenlty seems to be a contrast to the title itself. But forgetting something means also to spring up again, like a vernal flower in a wintry landscape. And this is the message that zemotion has conveyed to me through her masterpiece - sometimes there are things you just need to forget. But at the same time you should never be afraid of asking for the moon, because at least you will reach the stars. According to me this is the reason for which Forgotten Fairytales by zemotion goes beyond any desciption - it is not simply a picture, but an amazing composition which reconcile both fine art and philosophy. And, of course, it leaves you speechless.

Amazing picture, thoughtfully executed. It has very simple tones, which gives greater effect, although creates more of a haunting atmosphere. The focus of the dark square and the raw surface of the walls draws the viewer to the subject.

I also like the trailing dress of the model, flowing from brilliant white to grey....lovely touch. The contrast of the pale flesh of the legs, works particularly well with the blackness of the square, almost appearings as if she is sucked in to the hole. The distressed expression of the model, leads the viewer to ponder what she is thinking and forms a story/theme to the photo, perhaps a jilted lover or lost loved one.

The general concept of this picture is outstanding - it's as though a fairytale princess is trapped in a cruel reality. As a critique I would suggest viewers would get a better impression if the contrast between the girl and the place was made greater. Perhaps making a bigger difference between the colour of the dress and the colour of the wall.
The model in this is almost perfect for the impression the picture creates, although I would say a little more could be made of her. I think that the debris at the bottom of the photo adds depth to the horrible reality, and the dirty wall emphasises it well. Over all a fantastic idea well captured.
All of this is of course just my opinion.

This work has an element of distress and pain involved, its low saturated element which makes you feel and sence its vulnerablity, I feel as if the walls are eroding and the feeling makes you feel uneasy.
Saying that as a critic I aslo find which does not work such as the composition of the windows linking to the dress and the door, it could have been panned out better adding more filth and distress on the womans skin.
In all the subject works well but could have been worked out with more thought by reseaching into slums and wealth.

out of ten rating 4/10

Very beautiful and interesting piece. Its truly intriguing as how the girl ends up in this state of sadness. Was she betrayed? Or perhaps her beloved passed away at the night of her wedding?

The models pose, the debris and the coloring, all contribute to a very sad and lonesome atmosphere. The models' feelings are amplified passing to the photograph viewer her desperation, her dashed hopes, and of course the lingering question of why she is so sad.

The framing is masterfully chosen to create a perfect balance while feigning asymmetry. I really like the placement of the model up, while filling the empty space with her wedding gown.

Truly perfect! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

The picture is really thrilling. The girl seems like a lost soul especially while staying at that window. The window-frame is like the frame of her reality and any step left or right will be a decision taken with all of its consequences.

The lightning choice and the clothing of the girl are other two assets of the presentation. As mentioned in another critique before mine - the dress is like a wedding one, which makes the situation even more interesting, leaving every viewer with some questions to stumble upon.

The dark and spooky colors of the surrounding are in contrast with the light-purity of the model. And here comes a question - can you share what was the camera used and the settings? And have you used intense photo-manipulation techniques?

The composition is really perfect and the empty spaces (basically the wall) are perfectly balanced by the woman and her dress. I really like also the fact the model is dressed with a white, clean dress in contrast with the "environment".

In this picture I can really feel the sadness of the woman: it looks like she is lost... or she lost everything.

The lighting is also really good: even if almost all the picture is bright, the model looks "brighter" and not only her body (that is in front of a black background) but all her dress.

This is really a master piece... a photograph able to express a feeling.
