Sith Warrior alone practicing saber form.I'm still not happy with my digital painting skill. There's a lot of techniques that are still very new to me and I get frustrated or bored with these projects which makes them difficult to finish. Even so, I am seeing improvement as I continue to work in this style which is nice.

I sympathize with your frustrations in the digital learning curve. This piece came out nicely. You've got some issues with the figure's feet not seeming to touch the floor? I think it's more a problem with the shadow than the foot angle? Generally shadows are darker near their source and lighter as the move away.

Yeah there's a few things I could have kept working on but I just wanted to be done with this project and posted it as is. Light and shadow is something I know I really need to work on. Even if the overall quality of my work were not to improve, being better with lighting and shadows would make a huge difference. Maybe it's my awareness of that but I tend to notice good use of lighting and shadows first in other peoples work.

I know exactly what you mean. I generally finish my digital efforts in one sitting, be damned the flaws!
At the risk of sounding like a pompous arse and recommending something remedial to somebody who's work is as advanced as yours... mayhap you should do some drawing on toned (gray or earth) paper/mat board? Working both black and white pencils? When it comes down to it, every image is really just a collection of light/shadow patterns, right? This kind of drawing [link] helps me immensely!
Yuh, I tend to notice when others work is strong where I consider mine to be flawed, too. I think most of us do!
