Finest Hour - Card Number 0: The Story, So Far

In case you missed the prequel to this set, Unseen Invasion, I am going to make a brief recap of the story so far. The first set was intended as a background story for the invasion, while this and the following set is the main story.

Discord and Chrysalis has struck a deal with an unknown power living in the plane of Phyrexia, and have been tasked to conquer all of Equestria, with the help of strange, black oil. The first part of their plan was to capture Twilight Sparkle, the common source of their downfalls, which they did through a ghastly copy of Pinkie Pie. Unknowing to them, Spike was also dragged along by the spirit, and was caged along with Twilight in Phyrexia. He, however, managed to break free, and free Twilight as well, and after fighting their way through a horde of shadows, they met another of Phyrexia’s servants, the reborn Nightmare Moon. Through a dues ex machine they managed to escape through a portal, but Twilight lost hold of Spike during their travel through the planes, and his current location, and if he is even alive, is unknown.

While all this happened, a drop of black oil, delivered to Trixie through a cursed mirror, corrupted her into Discords service. Gifting her a great dose of black mana, she gained almost unlimited magic powers, and used these to steal two of the elements of harmony, one which she destroyed, and another which is in the possession of Discord. This would break another weapon which both Discord and Chrysalis feared, leaving them almost unopposed.

When Twilight returned to Ponyville, she immediately began to prepare the entire city for evacuation, getting all their food and supplies ready in one big caravan. Changeling spies and strange horrors, striking from the now corrupted Everfree Forest, made this a bit harder, but in the end they succeeded in evacuating the city, marching towards safety in Canterlot.
Using the information from their spies, the changelings launched an ambush on the caravan, destroying substantial amounts of food, before they were driven away by Fluttershy, helped by Applejack and Rarity. With all the ponies safe in Canterlot, they now have to find a way to break the siege they are under, and find a way to stop Discord and Chrysalis once and for all.
Making sure that Ponyville could not be used as a forward base for the Equestrian forces, Discord unleashed his new powers, calling down meteors to reduce the town to rubble.

It is from this point that the card set “Finest Hour” begins.

Finest Hour is the second part of a 3 part MTG expansion set, meant to tell an overall storyline through ponified Magic the Gathering cards, exploring the plane of Equestria and its struggle against a darker force invading it.
The story begins with a prologue set named Unseen Invasion, giving you the background of this set, and fully begins with a quick recap of the prologue in the set Finest Hour.
