First of all , i'm not the best person to give advice since i'm still new but i can tell you briefly of what is it.
It depends my dear , Can you handle stress ? and it depends which speciality you wanna go.There is ;
1. concept artist (mostly 2D works , tons of sheet of works.The most dangerous one)
2.enviroment artist ( 3D Work , Maya , Zbrush and 3d max depending on the program they offer
3.animators ( Animate 3d stuff by rigging it )
4.GUI artists ( Make buttons , icons and screen )
5.Character Artist (Modelling a 3d characters )
6.VFX artist ( Create visual effect in game such as dust and fire )
7.Storyboard Artist (Storyboarding )
8.Technical Artist ( Art and code at same time)
Like for me , i'm a concept artist. I did tons of concepting including storyboards. and usually in 1 week i have to produce at least 10 sheets of different variations of stuff , i'm doing. I wish i can show you stuff that i make , but i can't.I signed the NDA

Oh woooww Thanks for the info! I knew there were many focuses in game design but I havnt seen all of them yet...But when do we start choosing focuses in school? Or do we just generally graduate in game design in general and just go from there where we want to focus in?
Aww I wish I could see some of your work. I only took one game class and It wasnt so bad. Its fun to model only if we knew the program well enough. I heard rigging is wanted in most places. and I didnt know concept artist for game was such hard work. I have never done a 3d character, but that sounds fun as well lol. (Only used Maya, zbrush and a bit of unity)

It depends actually , if you already possesed the skill , you dont really need to go to game school ? But i would suggest it best to go because you get to be connected with people in the industry. Starts by focusing on what you want to do ? For examples if you love 3d then starts learn maya , zbursh and 3dmax. what kind of stuff you lik eto 3d ? characters or enviroment ? Rigging ? not sure thou but what i knew that there's alot of places for gui artist and vfx because it the least people going. Concept artist is hard to get job because there only one or 2 maximum concept in a game company and after the project finish they ussually go to different place.
Not really , game conventions is for you to meet the people who makes game.have a chat who knows if you sent them portfolio , they might considered you

Im actually going to talk to a gam director tomorrow so ill ask some more haha. I originally didnt like 3d...thats why I went into 2d animation...but I feel the money comes into the 3d stuff. I only have 1 thing I can use for my gam portfolio lol

I never liked 3d either and i m tryng to avoid all costs.but it's a must unless your artwork is really really good then you dont have to worry about that.
It's quite hard to get because the competition is high.Even for me ,it's still quite hard to get.but don't lose hope.In america i think if not mistaken san fransciso have alot of game company.Try applying for internship , it's a good ticket to get into the industry.

So I met with the director and he said theres actually only 4 focuses.
1) concept art
2) 3d modeler and character modeler
3) game design (ppl who design the game like scripting)
4) and animator/rigging
So your saying its really hard working in the game industry?
