I spotted your 3D model of Tokyo-3 over at your site, theΒ Courne Supremacy, and from what I saw, it looked very impressive. Just how much of the city did you model, anyway?
π: 0 β©: 1
AlbinoGrimby In reply to OrionPax09 [2015-02-03 18:08:47 +0000 UTC]
Not too much. I used Tokyo-3 from the new Eva 1.11/2.22 movies as an inspiration, so those buildings don't 100% come from the anime -- they just look like them, but I wanted to try and emulate the CG look that the movie had, because it looked really slick. It was a first attempt, and now that Blender's got better toon shading support, it might be worthwhile to try again. I'd love to build some more backgrounds that way.Β

My I ask what your favorite DC/Marvel character are, out of curiosity?
π: 0 β©: 1
AlbinoGrimby In reply to ShadOBabe [2013-11-10 19:17:12 +0000 UTC]
I never read the comics, but I loved the cartoons and movies. X-Men and Spiderman are my favorite Marvel series, and so Peter Parker, Charles Xavier, and Magneto. I liked First Class since it was an origin story for the X-Men and I always like that relationship where they both agreed on the same ideals but went about them in diametrically opposed ways.Β
Iron Man is another one of my favorites, mainly cause I like RDJ's portrayal of Stark.Β
As for DC, I'm only really familiar with Batman and Superman, but I prefer the Dark Knight himself. I also liked Batman Beyond, but I don't know if that's considered proper Batman canon. It was a really great take on a student/mentor relationship and old, gruff Batman was just really rad.

ShadOBabe In reply to AlbinoGrimby [2013-11-10 19:32:38 +0000 UTC]
That's fine. I didn't really read the comics either.
But that's where all the characters originated, so I just call them that.
Nice. Yeah, I actually grew up more with the DC characters, especially Batman.
But I've recently gotten into the Marvel universe a LOT, especially with the help of the movies they've been putting out.
RDJ IS Iron Man to me!! Seriously, I will never be able to see Stark as anyone else. XDDD
But between Iron Man and Thor, I really can't pick my favorite. I adore both of them!!
Hmmm... I think is actually IS considered canon, at least in the DC Animated Universe. And I know there are Batman Beyond comics too.
The only thing that I think is kind of ridiculous about that show though (and that me and my other geek friends kind of just ignore) is that the series is supposed to take place "80 years in the future". But that makes NO friggin' sense!! If we assume that Bruce Wayne was 25 in the B:TaS cartoon (which isn't likely, he was probably older), then he'd be at least 105 years old in Batman Beyond!! But we also see the other Bat-family members like Tim and Barbara, and they look like they're in their 40s and 50s, not in their 80s and 90s!!
So yeah, we just assume that it's ACTUALLY 50 years in the future. It just makes more sense.

AlbinoGrimby In reply to ShadOBabe [2013-11-10 20:03:46 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, RDJ is Stark to me. I know Marvel says that if he ever bows out they'll replace him with someone else a la James Bond, but it'll never be the same. I go to those movies to see him be a d-bag genius with a nice helping of robot smashing on the side. I generally enjoy all the new films Marvel is putting out and I like the continuity between them and the movie universe they're building, it's smart for them and proves that audiences don't have memories like a goldfish.Β
50 years makes sense. If I were to guess, I'd say when Bruce Wayne started he was in his 30s, so yeah being a cranky old recluse at 80 makes sense. It's been a while so I don't remember the age discrepancies between Barb, Tim, and Bruce in the show. I remember it was well plotted, extended the universe in a cool new way, and was edgier in a good way for a saturday morning cartoon.Β
What do you think about the WB DC movies? I haven't found their new stabs at Superman entertaining, but I'm also not a fan of Zack Synder, despite my penchant for enjoying explode-y plothole-riddled movies and his penchant for making them. I liked Nolan's DK trilogy, until my friends pointed out flaws with them, but whatever, I still like it. I thought it was amusing that the third film is an homage to Tale of Two Cities (I still need to read that). Β

That would make me so sad if he drops out.
I like to think he wouldn't. He seems to enjoy the role SO MUCH. And he just connects with the character so well.
But I guess at the end of the day it is just a gig. BUT THERE WILL NEVER BE A BETTER IRON MAN!!
Exactly.
And yeah, it was pretty cool. Even if I don't remember much of it. XDD
Ehhhhh... it's not for me. I promised my friend I would give Superman a shot if I saw it on TV, but from what bits I've heard and seen, there is NOTHING in it that makes me interested in watching. Especially the look of the film. Good lord, it's so dark and ugly and gritty looking!! And why is Superman's costume all scaly looking?
But there is NO WAY I'm going to watch the Dark Knight movies. I was considering it, but it is WAY to dark in subject matter. Not my cup of tea. Not to mention the freakin' dumb ways Nolan handled the characters. That is not the Joker I know and love, and I will NEVER like Nolan!Scarecrow. And Bane..? That's not Bane... And I need to look more into the matter, but from what I understand, Nolan passed on Riddler (my absolute FAVORITE Batman baddie) for Bane. The reason I heard? Riddler wasn't "realistic enough"...
NOT REALISTIC ENOUGH? He's just a really smart man with OCD and a penchant for death traps. You picked the eight-foot-tall Latino that wears a luchador mask and uses Hulk-steroids over him? And I heard Riddly was going to going to be played by Johnny Depp... I don't care what I didn't like about his other movies, I would have gone to see the film three times just to see that!! But that rumor could be wrong. I'm finding lots of conflicting sources. But still, THE RIDDLER!! Fsaklhnakrjioaespdfj!!
But yeah, I personally think WB and DC need to take a clue from Marvel right now.
I think I will always be more nostalgic about DC characters, but seriously... MARVEL has always been the company known for it's grittiness, but it seems that Marvel and DC have switched places. DC seems to be trying to drown it's universe in darkness, and grittiness, and angst, and "realism"... (and slutty costumes for all the female characters). But Marvel is like, "Dude, screw that, it's COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS!! We need colors and awesome music and comedy and action and FUN!! LOTS OF FUN!! POUR GIANT OIL DRUMS O' FUN ON THIS STUFF!!"
Okay, rant over...
