yeah ... our winters are mild - well, in this area ( Bay of Plenty ) anyway -
We do get snow further South and especially on the South Island ( brrr ) ..
My wife is from here and she had never seen any snow untill I took her to the mountains several years ago!

I hope the new house is a good thing, a chosen improvement. I moved in with my girlfriend whom you don't know about just a few weeks ago, myself. My birthday was a big non-event on an otherwise eventful day, which is mostly how I prefer it. Catching up would be a fairly big undertaking.
