People seem fascinated by them.
They argue endlessly
whether the cups
are half empty
or half full.
Isn’t it both?
One could argue the cup is completely full.
Half water, half air.
Or the cup is entirely empty,
since it does not hold any of the desired items.
But what does this have to do with anything?
What understandings of life
are people trying to
force
on cups?
And why cups?
Is it their hollow like design
that makes people want to fill them with meaning?
Or is it that they hope
to fill themselves
with meaning?
And the only way
they could think
to express it,
was through a cup?
How ridiculous!
How are cups so
fascinating?
I don’t understand
how a person can have an entire discussion just about c-
…I see…
How ironic
that I’ve written a whole poem
about cups.
