tried with cutting the river short, like 1-3mm longer then the plates that your going to rivet and then just ball hammer the rivet down?
then they are solid! it took me a while to learn to rivet nicely, but with practis comes skills! pop-rivets are just junk! they cant stand up for any figthing xD

remeber that you need something hard to place the rivet on when riveting!

Like an anvil? Is that going to flatten my rivet head? What if I just use my stump? That probably has too much give... right?

you need something hard like an anilv, a steel bar, or somthing of steel, and if you dont whant to flatten the rivvet you take and drill a half hole with a drill! with the sime size as the rivet head so it fit's in, then it will be intake and you can rivet the rivet ^^

I freehand the drawing in soft charcoal pencil and block in the basic shading.. I'm really anal about my base drawings too. I think I spend more time drawing than painting to be honest haha

Yah, I agree... 3 hours of painting probably comes after drawing and re-drawing for a couple of days (obsessive). I'm always trying to find ways to make the process faster but I guess it takes as long as it takes!

lol. yeah, I';ve managed to cut each saint to about 3 days.. but that's with my busy ass schedule.. so i guess like 12hrs
