What made him go kookoo for human flesh?

It began in steps of degeneration.
The first was the loss of his lover, Evelyn and Gale's mother. What had began as a traveling show became a more widespread thing after this incident where the boardwalk began to "scrap" broken animatronics.
There were some ten or so years that went by where business was scarce and a select few started to take claims on buildings. As tension built, an eventual fight broke out. One that resulted in Ridley losing his vocal box and The Brit working to protect his son. Now normally he hadn't attacked the humans, though this one was working to scrap all of them. He lost it when he went after Gale... that was his last tie to Evelyn.Β
He killed him and well he got a "taste" as he did this. For some odd reason this was a turning point. He ended up killing more guards, most for absolutely no reason to.

As well any other humans that happen to wandering the boardwalk at night...great. Did he lose his eyes in that fight?

That happened a bit later. Call it one of them got lucky, them being a guard. They managed to damage his eyes enough to cause constant pain to him so they could escape.Β
He in turn ended up prying them out himself because he couldn't take the pain of it.Β
